4 Spring Cleaning Tips for Association Professionals

Spring has finally sprung, and you know what that means – time for a little spring cleaning! Yup, time to clean up your desk, your house, and even your association. To help you get you started, check out these four spring cleaning tips for association pros:

Get organized

If you have names and numbers jotted down all over the place, it’s time to get yourself organized. You need one centralized location for all of your association’s data. If you’re at a total loss for where to begin, try looking into an association management system. An AMS is a technology solution that helps associations manage their membership using one integrated system. If you already have an AMS, make sure all of your data is actually uploaded and, better yet, up-to-date. 

Refresh your website

Your organization changes every day, and because of that, some of the information on your website could be outdated or no longer useful. Take some time to go through your website, keeping an eye out for accuracy and overall relevance. In many cases, a quick edit will do the trick, but in some circumstances, you may need a more extensive overhaul.

Update social media

Just like your website, your social media sites may become outdated over time. Go through all of your social networks and take a look at your bios and about me sections.  If they need updating, now’s the time to do so. And while you’re at it, try updating your Twitter background and Facebook profile image as well. 

Clean out inboxes and RSS feeds

We all know how fast emails accumulate. And the problem is, they all look pretty useful! But to save yourself time (and sanity), make it a point to clean out your inbox at least once a month. It will likely make your software run faster and keep you more organized. If you come across emails you just can’t get rid of, create separate folders specifically for those important documents.

While you’re at it, if you have any blog subscriptions that just aren’t as relevant or interesting as you once thought, remove them from your RSS feed. Clearing out less-relevant content will allow you to be more productive and give room for more important information to come in.
