Insights from an ASAE newbie

Refreshing.  Whenever I hear that word, I think of something bright, new, fresh, and invigorating.  Here in the MemberClicks family we attempt to live by this very word every day and work hard to provide a refreshing experience for our customers (better known as our MC Family).  As a newbie to the ASAE world, I was excited to venture out to Dallas to experience all the amazing association executives I constantly work with on a day-to-day basis.  I will tell you, ASAE is refreshing.  The people are friendly, kind, smart, and diverse.  The passion is evident in every executive who works tirelessly to provide a more meaningful experience for his or her members.  It was refreshing to see an industry full of so many dedicated members, who so quickly worked together to help those around them in learning sessions and on the trade show floor.

Upon arriving in Dallas, we quickly unpacked at our Omni hotel (so beautiful and modern) and quickly hopped on a bus to head to the North Texas Food Bank.  What a great experience it was for us!  Laura Horton (Solutions Adviser), Duncan (VP of Customer Experience), and I met 15 other Association Execs who decided to volunteer their Saturday to help those less fortunate. How refreshing!?  We dubbed ourselves the Fab 15; see photo above.

The next few days were a whirlwind:  thousands of smiling faces, country musicians, posh dinners/receptions, Cowboys Stadium (AMAZING!), Hard Rock, House of Blues, Steak, BBQ, and a handful of other amazing experiences.  ASAE knows how to foster a fun environment for networking and building relationships.  It was truly refreshing!

As a Product Manager at MemberClicks, I was personally able to develop relationships with so many of our incredible existing clients and a great deal of potential, new MC family members.  I enjoyed hearing first hand what is on the minds of the ASAE members and the day-to-day struggles they may face.  Refreshing moments were boundless during the final conference sessions on the last day.

During the next year, thousands of execs from all over the country will have a new and refreshing support system from those they met at ASAE.  The organizations will grow and the wisdom and experience will be ever increasing.  I am excited to have ASAE in Atlanta next year, for yet another refreshing and amazing weekend!  Then I can truly speak as a “veteran”!
