Tips for writing copy for the Web

You've got a ton of marketing materials in your arsenal, right? Brochures, email marketing messages, website, mobile web site, etc, etc etc...

When it comes down to it, though, what's the most important thing about all of those materials?

The copy.

Your brochures and websites can have the best designs, be so visually appealing and gorgeous, but if the copy has no substance, no one will be impressed.

So, how can you make sure your copy is A+ for readers - especially on the Web?

1. Answer your audiences questions. Be useful, anticipate their questions and write your copy accordingly.

2. Be brief. People don't read websites like they read books. Use short paragraphs to account for people who skim websites - which is most of us.

3. Stand out. Be unique. But be on brand. Writing copy for an organization isn't just about writing well, which many people can do. It's about maintaining your organization's personality and voice while writing strong, informational copy.
