Friday Top Five: Digital Events & Value your Volunteers

Posted by Whitney Oles

Happy Friday! Fall officially arrives tomorrow and I know so many folks are excited for pumpkin lattes, hay rides, and all the other fun fall festivities.  As usual, we rounded up some compelling blog posts from the Association world. So let's get to it!

  1. Digital events have become more commonplace and in many ways it is important to treat the marketing for it just as you would for an in-person event. Donna with Engage365 gives tips on Marketing your Digital Event: Timing.

  2. Volunteers make the world go round! Once you have a volunteer sign up to help out your organization it's so important to value their time and have a game plan set for them. Eric Lanke discusses "When a volunteer wants to offer his time, no one wants to see it go to waste. Talking openly about these three things before he gets started can help greatly minimize that chance.

  3. Who doesn't love free stuff? But the old adage "nothing in life is free" rings true for software. Wes Trochill explains that "Free is good. But it isn't without cost" And you need to keep in mind no matter what technology you choose."

  4. Can appointments redefine event success? "91% polled said they want pre-scheduled appointments". Learn more by taking a look at the infographic on Jeff Hurt's blog.

  5. Do you have someone on your staff designated as your community manager? Check out Social Fish's Five Lessons from Great Community Managers." The best community managers communicate up the chain of command to demystify the community and get leaders more involved."

Enjoy your last day of summer

Happy fall!
