Are Your Vendors Engaged? Would You Like Them to Be?

Rumor has it, in some association circles, trade show attendance is struggling. This could spell trouble for how vendor members find value in belonging to your organization. Making Connections Before, During, and After ASAE

Posted by Sarah Hill

There are a ton of reasons you are coming to ASAE in just 5 weeks, but one of the most important ones is to put faces with blogs, shake hands of your twitter followers, and generally meet and network with industry movers and shakers and solidify connections.

But how do you do that?

Connecting before, during, and after ASAE

Well since we still have a few weeks until you join us in “the A,” the place to start is social media. Follow the ASAE Annual Meeting hashtag, #ASAE13 and see what the buzz is about. At this stage, there’s a lot of talk about plane tickets, accommodations, and general info about the convention. While you’re at it, follow us @MemberClicks. We share a lot of good information about goings-on about ASAE as well, plus we’re local and can offer some great Atlanta tips as well! Also don’t forget the good old #Assnchat hashtag. Even though the buzz there is more general, ASAE is the biggest event in the association world, so there’s bound to be some cross-over.

Don’t forget to check out the other social media platforms, if you’re involved. Google+ has several growing social media communities. Although the conversation there isn’t quite as vibrant as it is on Twitter, Google+ offers some great online networking in different ways. Find MemberClicks on Google+ here.

Once you’re in an online space following a valid ASAE conversation, start participating! Ask and answer questions. Follow, retweet, and mention people who are posting useful information and are active and engaged. In short, digitally communicate with people you want to meet.

Now that you’ve made some connections online, make those translate into reality at ASAE 2013. Suggest a meeting or find out if anyone is attending the same sessions and learning labs you plan on attending. If you’re interested in talking to a vendor, you can probably set those appointments now. You can with MemberClicks, anyway.

And don’t forget your camera and your business cards! Your cards because… well they’re your cards. You camera because one of the best ways to solidify that newly formed online to real life relationship is to post a picture online! Can't wait to see you there!
