If you’ve been keeping up with technology lately, you may have heard about a new slide-sharing service called SlideShare. Well, we shouldn’t really call it new – it’s actually been around since 2006. But it is growing in popularity, which begs the question, should your association care?
The answer? Possibly.
SlideShare allows users to easily upload and share presentations, infographics, documents, videos, PDFs, and webinars, which can actually be very beneficial for associations.
Other benefits of SlideShare for associations include:
Large reach - SlideShare allows organizations to reach an audience much larger than that of their own membership. In fact, in Q4 of 2013, the site averaged 60 million unique visitors a month, making it a great platform for reaching non-members. Think about it: by posting valuable content on SlideShare, non-members may be enticed to join your organization in hopes of getting more valuable content down the road.
Email compatible - There’s nothing more frustrating than having an email bounce because of a large attachment. If your association shares a great deal of content via email, SlideShare could be an immediate problem solver for you. The service compresses large files, allowing you to send documents, videos, and presentations with ease.
Presentation friendly - If your association uses PowerPoint a great deal for presentations, SlideShare may be worth looking into. Think of SlideShare as an extension of PowerPoint. The service allows you to easily embed pictures, videos, and hyperlinks into your presentation, making it more engaging for members.
