Engaging First-Time Conference Attendees

Engaging First-Time Conference Attendees: 4 Tactics to Try

Of course you want to provide an exceptional experience for ALL of your conference attendees, but ensuring that happens for your first-time attendees is particularly important. Their decision to attend future events (and possibly even renew their membership) depends heavily on that first experience, so going the extra mile for those folks, in particular, is certainly worth it.

What does “going the extra mile” for your first-time attendees look like? Here are a few tactics worth trying:

Gotta See It: 3 Can’t-Miss Events at ASAE Annual

Posted by Callie Walker

ASAE Annual is just FOUR days away - can you believe it?! Hopefully you’re getting your schedule finalized, but before you dot the i’s and cross the t’s, make sure these three events are on your list:

1. The Opening Celebration at Library Square

It’s no surprise that the Opening Celebration at Library Square is on our list. On Saturday, August 13, Salt Lake City will welcome ASAE attendees with quite the party. Starting at 7 p.m., there will be food, drinks (some of Utah’s finest, in fact), and the world’s largest social media wall projected on the side of The Leonardo, Salt Lake’s art, science, and technology museum. Attendees can then share insights and chat with friends - in 140 characters or less, that is.

Then, later in the evening, Project Bandaloop, a group of aerial dancers, will perform on the five-story glass exterior wall of the Salt Lake City Public Library! (To say we’re excited for that is a MAJOR understatement.)

2. The Small Staff Shindig at Gracie’s Gastropub

Calling all small staff association professionals, AMCs, and industry leaders! Boy, do we have a party for you!

On Sunday, August 14, we’ll be hosting the 4th Annual Small Staff Shindig at Gracie’s Gastropub from 6 - 9 p.m. Come enjoy delicious food, drinks, and the AMAZING company of your small staff association professionals.

3. The Classic at Grand America Hotel

Ok, we’ve covered parties for Saturday and Sunday. What’s on the list for Monday? ASAE Foundation’s The Classic, of course!

This year, the theme is A Night with the Sundance Film Festival. In true Sundance fashion, guests should wear black. (Note: This doesn’t mean black tie; it just means PIB, People in Black, a local acronym used to denote super-serious Sundancers.) A video DJ will showcase iconic independent film dance moves (think Napoleon Dynamite’s epic talent-show solo), and then later, the Bacon Brothers will perform!

Put simply, there’s a LOT to enjoy here. Don’t miss it on Sunday, from 6 - 10 p.m.
