Engaging First-Time Conference Attendees: 4 Tactics to Try

Of course you want to provide an exceptional experience for ALL of your conference attendees, but ensuring that happens for your first-time attendees is particularly important. Their decision to attend future events (and possibly even renew their membership) depends heavily on that first experience, so going the extra mile for those folks, in particular, is certainly worth it.

Member Engagement – Strategies for Admins

Posted by Chris Byess

‘Communication is key.’ Let me guess, you’ve heard that one before, right? As an individual charged with maintaining a membership database, you’ll likely be inclined to agree. The implementation of successful communication, however, is another question entirely. Today, we prepare ourselves to answer that question by tackling four top techniques of Memberclicks database communication so that you, dear Authorized Service Administrator, can better enhance the lines and methods of communication between yourself and your members. To note, you’ll need to be logged in as an Authorized Service Administrator to access these functions, so have your credentials ready!

1. Contact Center E-Blasts

If there is ever a ‘first step’ along the path to successfully engaging your members, then this is it.  An email blast sent from the contact center allows you to email select individuals, groups, or even your entire database, all in one fell swoop. To do so, simply search for the member you wish to contact, or view the group(s) whom you wish to message. When your results appear, a click of the contact button, as show below, will send you to the contact center, where you can then craft your message.

2. Dues Renewal Expiration Messages

Rather than busy yourself with crafting a separate message for each individual that expires throughout the year, let your expiration date settings take care of it for you! These automated messages can be set to send out up to a full three months before your members expire, giving them ample time, and warning, that they will soon be needing to renew. These messages can be enabled and created within your expiration date attribute, which is accessed through the Attribute Management tab, as seen in the screenshot below.

3. E-Lists

A fan of mailing lists, perhaps? Then the E-List function is for you. Accessed through the E-List Management tab, which is housed beneath Components, the E-list function will allow you to create various mailing lists consisting of the members of your choosing, regardless of their group. Not only can a member send an E-List message while logged into their profile, but they can also do so from their personal mailbox.

4. Community Forums

No function better allows members to discuss topics of their own making than the Community Forum. As an ASA you can create various forums with member-based permissions that will allow your groups to read, reply to, and even create topics of their own making. It’s also a handy way to generate discussion amongst your members by posting a topic of your own. You can find the Community Forum Management section beneath the Components tab.

By utilizing the four options presented above, you’ll be on your way to enhancing the flow of communication within your organization, and as a result, increasing the engagement of your members!
