As a passionate association or chamber professional, you’re likely always seeking out new ways to provide your members with value — especially during this challenging time.
But the trick is identifying what will be of value to your members; what do they really want and need? Well, we always recommend going to the source (your members!) and asking, but beyond that, here are two resources that could really be of help to your members right now:
If there was ever a time where people were experiencing information overload, it’s now. Think about how many times you’ve Googled something new since the COVID-19 pandemic started (how to do something new, for example, or the latest updates on a certain policy or bill).
Well, your members are in that same boat. But as you can also probably relate, finding valuable — and credible — resources is a challenge in itself and requires time that many people simply cannot spare.
That’s where your association or chamber comes in. If you can curate content for your members (regarding topics they’re likely already searching for), that’s a HUGE value prop. Think about distributing that content on a weekly or even bi-weekly basis via email (“News You Can Use” or “Recommended Reading,” as two examples).
Your members won’t have to go digging...and they’ll be appreciative of that!
Creating quality graphics can be a challenge for many. Not everyone has an eye for design, and not only that, but not everyone has the time (or patience) to fiddle around with design tools — even if they are free.
Is that an area where your association or chamber can step in?
Now you might be wondering, “What types of graphics are you talking about?” Well, of course, it depends on your industry, but think about what your members might be trying to communicate with their key constituents right now.
If you work for a restaurant association, maybe that’s “We’re open!” or “Curbside pickup now available.”
Or, if you work for a chamber of commerce, maybe that’s “Welcome back to new safety standards.”
Your members could download these graphics and share them on social media, adding in details that pertain to their individual business.
Note: These don’t need to be elaborately designed graphics. Try using Canva to create something simple, yet professional looking. (It’s free!)
The more you can help your members out, particularly in this time, the more likely they are to renew when the time comes. (Increased member value = increased member retention.)
